After learning human anatomy by taking dissection classes (led by Dr. Gil Hedley, April 2013 & August 2015), the following important existential suggestions for living a fuller and happier life, became evident to me:
If we but listen to the dead, what tales do they tell?
Cautionary - take care with what you take in
Dramatic - move to be strong and free
Spiritual - honor yourself and your ability to choose
Melodramatic - love only those who earn it
Horror - only comes from our fears and a life not lived
Documentary - your body can and will do anything to heal and survive
Social - no one thrives alone
Comedy - laughter will get you through anything - as it passes, as it will
Educational - as you age remember to focus on what's left
Philosophical - enjoy each breath as if it's your last
If we but listen to the cadavers, what lessons do they teach?
Our body functions as a whole, is a whole
We break it into pieces only to learn
Being all connected what touches one part is felt by all
Every part is to be equally loved and honored
Every stage of development has its advantage
There is more after death - someway, somehow, somewhere
The color of our skin is only as thick as tissue paper
Our layer of adipose serves many good purposes and deserves respect
When intervening with a body or life in trouble - less intervention is better
but no intervention can be deadly
